Derwent World Patents Index (DWPI) on Delphion Overview The Derwent World Patents Index (DWPI®) is the most comprehensive database of enhanced patent information in the world. Derwent helps simplify and speed your research by providing, among other important features, patent titles and abstracts written in English — using clear, consistent, industry-specific terms. You can include DWPI records in your Delphion Work Files providing an ideal way for groups of users to share and collaborate on research findings. Delphion Data Extract enables export of DWPI data in a variety of formats — including one for Derwent AnalyticsSM. This is the only export in which DWPI data can be combined with patent office data in a format specifically designed for Derwent Analytics, a powerful Thomson data mining application. You can also analyze your DWPI data with Snapshot and Clustering — and you can bulk download PDF images using PDF Express. Delphion allows you to combine the power of DWPI data with the easy-to-use collaboration, analysis, and productivity tools for which Delphion is well known. Coverage DWPI covers more than 16.75 million inventions from 41 different international patent-issuing authorities. Within Thomson Reuters more than 250 industry specialists in Chemistry, Engineering, Life Science, and Electronics classify and index these documents to provide enhanced titles and abstracts to describe the novelty of the invention, which are readily searched and easily understood. Around 47,000 patent documents are processed every week — there are 36.2 million patent documents currently in the database and over 2.5 million patents are added each year. DWPI on Delphion Searching DWPI on Delphion is fast and easy — in addition to simple keyword searching, you can search by accession or patent number, Boolean text, and multiple text fields.
